Driven by the growing thirst for news, education, and entertainment among the global population, mass media companies have in recent decades grown to become among the largest organizations in the world. Mexican multimedia giant Grupo Televisa, S.A.B, has not been left behind. Since its formation slightly more than four decades ago, the company has grown to become the largest mass media organization in all Spanish-speaking territories.

Mr. Angoitia has been a director at the company for almost two decades now and has also served as its Executive Vice Chairman since May 2000. Alfonso de Angoitia Noriega time at the company has coincided with a number of big-money moves that have cemented Grupo Televisa’s standing as the largest mass media organization in Hispanic America. One such move came three years ago with the acquisition of Cablecom, a large cable company in Mexico, for a fee reported to be more than $650 million.
Alfonso de Angoitia Noriega has a rich educational and professional background before joining Grupo Televisa. He holds a Bachelors of Laws degree from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He kicked off his professional career as a lawyer with New York-based law firm, White & Case LLP, before going on to become one of the founding partners of Mexican law firm, Mijares, Angoitia, Cortes, and Fuentes. His first title upon joining Grupo Televisa soon thereafter was the Chief Financial Officer. Having had the trust of the company’s CEO Emilio Azcárraga for years, he also served as one of his most trusted advisers.
He has chaired or sat on the board of trustees of a number of learning institutions and charitable foundations, including American School Foundation and Kardias A.C.
